One of my co-workers (actually one of MY hires - he works directly for me) finally went to get an MRI done last week due to some hearing loss he's been having. Yesterday he got the results. He has a small tumor at the base of his brain on a nerve from the inner ear to the brain. He said it's about the size of a marble, but has caused his hearing to reduce to about 40% of normal. Over the next month he will undergo a series of tests to determine if he should have surgery or just radiation. He said the doctor is leaning towards surgery, but will need to see the test results first. He said the doctors still think he won't have any better hearing, but at least they know now what caused it and can take care of it.
Poor guy was very distraught. And the thing I think he was worried about most was loosing his job. Thankfully, we are a small enough company, I told him he had no worries of that. He would definately have a job!! It was very evident that a huge weight had been lifted. Now we just need to get him better.
Anyway, keep him in your prayers. I'll let you know the outcome.

Bless you for reducing his worries at least to the degree you could, Twissi! You'll probably never know what all that relief might have done toward his recovery! But your caring will always be of value emotionally to you as well as to him, I know. Assure him that prayers from Sunshine Station will continue, and do keep us informed about how things go from here on out for him.

Of course, your friend, Twissi, and all those that care about him will have my prayers, too. Thank you for bringing this to all of us at Sunshine Station.

Cary is doing much better this week. He's done a lot of research on the internet and talked with several people that have had the same operation. He's coming to terms with what needs to happen, and his doctors have told him he has TIME to decide. It's nothing they need to rush into.

Dixie brought it to my attention that I hadn't posted any new info on Cary.
He's spoken with several doctors, including the head of neurosurgery at a local hospital (who happens to be the leading neurosurgeon in this part of the country). Based on the size and location of the tumor, the doctors have told him (even though it's still his decision) that he should do a procedure called "Gamma Knife". Basically, radiation. Based on the pros and cons of this and actual surgery, it seems to be the best solution. Surgery would require 3-5 weeks of recovery time, where the radiation would only be 3-5 days! He will have problems with hearing and balance regardless of which procedure he has done.
Anyway, he's looking to have it done sometime in April, so will update after that.
Please continue the prayers....

Thought I'd let you all know Cary had his "zapping" done yesterday. He did the Gamma Knife thing and all's well, he came through with flying colors!! I spoke with his wife last night and he was at home in bed resting. They had to screw a brace onto his head (not INTO, just tight ONTO) to keep him from moving around. She said the only thing he was complaining of was he was getting a headache from the screws. His balance is a little off and he was just tired and relieved it was over. He'll be taking the rest of the week off and maybe return next Monday, depending on how he's feeling.
Thanks for the prayers!!

That's certainly good news, Twissi. Thanks for the update. My prayers will continue for a total recovery, as well as for relief from that headache.

I know you'll pass along to him the fact that many folks here continue to care and be eager for news that he's all the way back to the best degree possible!
